A parkside address in a turn of the century building, Le Filet is the latest eatery from the owners of Le Club Chasse Et Peche offering a more casual setting for a contemporary small plates menu that impresses. Its posh façade retreats to a more contemporary interior with prominent main bar with ethereal images illuminated on walls that recede to striped metal brass detailing in the main dining room. A stylish arrangement of farm-style chairs surrounds spare tabletops with simple tablecloths and white porcelain tableware.
The Food
A dinner-only dining room of mostly small plate specialties begins with an elaborate presentation of raw bar with exquisite selection of oysters before continuing to salads of smoked mackerel or house-smoked duck. Raw appetizers include Hamachi with sumax, wagyu tataki and tuna tartare with egg confit. Cooked alternatives include a sensational grilled octopus and arctic char with caviar. As for pastas, stick with the urchin spaghetti or crab risotto. Main course dabbles more in land-based faire with pork flank over soft polenta, lamb medallions with chanterelles and braised short-rib with carrot puree.
